ISS Storcium is a complete solution for enterprise data center storage. It scales from petabytes to exabytes without the need for complete technology and frame replacement. It provides all the features of the modern SAN without the usual limitations of SANs on growth, operations, recovery and scalability. It is even possible to download and upload storage volumes directly in and out of Storcium. Storcium is based on a number of leading Open Source components, ISS comprehensive management and monitoring interface, carefully integrated and tested modules from world&rsquot;s leading hardware manufacturers.
ISS delivers all Storcium components - hardware and software. We will size your initial system based on your needs for storage capacity, data protection and performance needs, load the software, deliver the system and perform on-site installation and training. You can then grow the storage in unlimited fashion, either by adding new storage ("A") nodes or by increasing the density of existing nodes, or by adding delivery nodes. You will need to provide a point of entry to your compute (VMware, Microsoft, IBM etc. servers) - this is done either via a network switch of Fibre Channel fabric. We can also provide high performance (10 and 40 gigabit) switches integrated into Storcium to also serve as your primary network backbone.
Storcium delivers block and file storage via D nodes, as well as Ceph object storage directly out of the core. By separating core and delivery, Storcium achieves unlimited growth, while allowing customers to place acceleration delivery components at the precise locations where these are needed. There is no limit to the number of core or delivery components, they can be added at any time.
Active Data ("A") nodes provide object storage via Ceph storage core. A nodes can be added and expanded in unlimited quantities without any reduction in performance or recovery times. In fact, the larger is core storage the better performing and more resilient it becomes. A nodes utilize replicated object data protection (for very high speed storage), or Erasure Coded pools (for nearline and archival storage). A nodes are fully redundant at every level, and replication allows redundancy by any desired factor - server, rack, row, room, data center, city, continent...
Delivery ("D") nodes convert and deliver core object storage via iSCSI, Fibre Channel (block), NFS and CIFS (file) protocols. D nodes are clustered for high availability and utilize local "edge" flash and RAM caches for very high performance of delivered storage. Additional flash capability is available for the core as well, resulting in practically limitless performance design for the most demanding applications.
Control ("C") nodes house ISS management and monitoring software layers, Storcium web interface and core monitoring components (MON).
Backup ("B") nodes provide the capability to back up (export) and restore (import) object storage images (volumes) directly in and out of Storcium for bare metal disaster recovery, backup and replication capabilities. B nodes are able to replicate this data over long distances, without any negative effects to production storage. B nodes also provide a fully encrypted removable media backups for long term or offsite storage (cartridge capacity up to 16 TB per individual cartridge). B nodes provide integration with most third party enterprise backup solutions, as well as with ISS Oracle Backup module, ISS AIX and OpenVMS backup solutions and ISS Acronis System Imaging solution.
